The Door Called Stuck

A song about 'stuck' being an opportunity.

Story: The Door Called Stuck

Verse 1

I came to the same old corner
with the same old tired face
the same old thought was waiting
saying, “You are in the wrong place”
I had tried a hundred doorways
I had polished every key
but every road I travelled
kept leading back to me

The mind said, “You are failing”
the body said, “I’m tired”
the seeker kept on searching
for the thing it most desired
but underneath the story
beneath the old bad luck
there was a quiet doorway
wearing the name stuck

Chorus

Stuck is not the ending
stuck is not the shame
stuck is where the old road
runs out of its old name
stuck is not the failure
stuck is not the wall
stuck may be the opening
where there’s nowhere left to fall

So come closer, come closer
to the ache you tried to flee
what you called stuck
may be life asking you to see

Verse 2

There was pressure in the forehead
there was heaviness in the chest
there was a little child inside me
who had never learned to rest
there was wanting to be elsewhere
there was anger, there was doubt
there was the old familiar longing
to finally find a way out

But when I stopped explaining
and let the body speak
the fortress started trembling
the walls became less sleek
not because I conquered
not because I struck
but because I turned toward
the place that I called stuck

Chorus

Stuck is not the ending
stuck is not the shame
stuck is where the old road
runs out of its old name
stuck is not the failure
stuck is not the wall
stuck may be the opening
where there’s nowhere left to fall

So come closer, come closer
to the ache you tried to flee
what you called stuck
may be life asking you to see

Bridge

I thought awakening was waiting
in a bright and distant room
where the heavy things were absent
where the heart would always bloom
but the light was in the tightness
and the doorway was the scar
and the place I kept rejecting
was not separate or far

“I am stuck” became a story
“stuckness is here” became a breath
then the word fell into silence
and there was nothing left to fix
just pressure, warmth, and trembling
just wanting, thought, and skin
just the life I tried escaping
quietly letting me in

Verse 3

Now when the old place finds me
with its tired, familiar song
I don’t pretend to love it
I don’t call the feeling wrong
I sit beside the heaviness
I let the body show
what the mind could only label
but could never really know

Maybe this is not a prison
maybe this is not bad luck
maybe life has carved a doorway
in the shape of being stuck
maybe nothing needs escaping
before the seeing starts
maybe every locked-up feeling
is an opening of the heart

Final Chorus

Stuck is not the ending
stuck is not the shame
stuck is where the old road
runs out of its old name
stuck is not the failure
stuck is not the wall
stuck may be the opening
where there’s nowhere left to fall

So come closer, come closer
to the ache you tried to flee
what you called stuck
may be life asking you to see

Outro

No shining gate
no distant star
no better self
no somewhere far

Just this breath
this ache
this luck

the hidden door
called stuck
