Story — Using the Map Without Getting Lost
Verse 1
The road still narrows in the distance,
The world still feels outside,
Names still stick to every face,
There’s still a sense inside.
Nothing changed in how it looks,
Nothing fell away—
But something shifted quietly
In how I let it stay.
Pre-Chorus
I used to take it as the truth,
Now I see what it can do…
Chorus
It still looks that way,
But I don’t have to believe it,
Still feels like a centre here,
But I don’t have to be it.
All these lines and shapes and names
Help me move and steer—
They were never the problem…
Just the way they appeared.
Verse 2
I still say “me” and “you” in conversation,
Still plan and still decide,
Still feel the pull of preference
And the body’s shifting tide.
But underneath the movement now
There’s nothing to defend—
No fixed point holding everything,
No story to pretend.
Pre-Chorus
It’s all still here, just not as tight,
Not mistaken for what’s right…
Chorus
It still looks that way,
But I don’t get caught inside it,
Still feels like something’s happening
But no one has to guide it.
All these tools of daily life
Still show up clear—
They were never the problem…
Just how they appeared.
Bridge
Maps are good for getting somewhere,
Words are good for saying things,
But neither one’s the territory,
Or the truth that living brings.
Final Chorus
So it still looks that way,
And that’s perfectly fine,
I can walk, and talk, and navigate
Without drawing a line.
Nothing lost, nothing removed,
Nothing to repair—
Just a lighter way of living…
With illusions everywhere.
